Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Class Description
Classes will begin with a fifteen minute warm up, which
will consist of calistenics, cardiovascular training, and drills that
are designed specifically for grappling. The warmup will be followed by
a series of active stretches.
Jiu Jitsu instruction will begin after the warm up and stretching are
complete. The instruction will consist of a technique demonstration,
followed by the students practicing this technique. Usually, two or
three techniques are shown during each class. These techniques often
build on each other, giving the students a variety of options from a
given position. Questions can be asked at any time, and will be
answered in a clear and effective manner. At the close of the technique
section, students will have the opportunity to continue drilling
techniques, or to spend time sparring with fellow students, and
instructors. All sparring will be conducted in a safe, controlled
manner. Jiu jitsu translates to 'gentle art', and should be practiced
accordingly.
Jiu jitsu is for everyone, and no one shall be excluded based on size,
shape, or physical limitations. Before beginning any rigorous physical
activity, you should consult your physician.
